Beethoven: 250th birthday
In 2020, the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the world´s most famous composers, is celebrated with many events, concerts, and exhibits throughout Europe. Did you know that Beethoven himself left the vowels out when he signed his works as BTHVN? The jubilee campaign "BTHVN2020" is based in Bonn at Rhine River, where the composer of the European Union anthem „Ode to Joy“ was born in 1770. In honor of his birthday, of which the exact date is unkown, Bonn will have a 365 day-long festival starting December 17th 2019, the day when the future composer was baptized. The program provides exhibitions, shows, concerts and festivals, theatre plays and much more. Apart from the celebration, the Beethoven Museum can be visited as well as numerous monuments all around Bonn.
Beethoven spent 22 years of his life in Bonn until he moved to Vienna to study. After graduating from University he stayed in Vienna until his death. With many jubilee events as well, a group tour between Vienna and Bonn at the Rhine covers many great areas of German and Austrian music and culture.

100 years of Bauhaus
It's 100 years since the Bauhaus architecural art school has been founded in Weimar. Come on a journey with us to celebrate the centenary and visit the historic university and new Bauhaus museum in Weimar, the Bauhaus buildings in Dessau, and the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin.
The Bauhaus art school was not only a school; it was rather a new, revolutionary perception of art, an important piece of German modernism. The Bauhaus school had a rather tough and short time. After the foundation in 1919 in Dessau, the school was relocated to Weimar, then to Berlin. After only 14 years it had to be closed down in Berlin under the narzi´s pressure. Yet, the idea and style of Bauhaus was spreaded even after closing the institution and is still to be found in the present days.
The idea of Bauhaus means to combine art and technique, to create art by bringing different kinds of arts together such as design and architecture. Buildings that were built in the this style were supposed to improve the standard of living of the average person, a rather rational way of building but with a twist of art.
